Friday Favorites - Halloween Edition

Today I thought it was only appropriate to have a "5 on Friday" - Halloween style! Linking up with Darci and some other gals again! ;)

~ONE~

One of my favorite things to do is to visit the pumpkin patch!

~TWO~

I also LOVE dressing my kids in festive, holiday attire! I'll cry when the day comes that I can no longer dress them like this!

~THREE~

And then of course the costumes!

~FOUR~

I try to make the holidays extra special for the kiddos. So we decorate our house (window clings are our favorite) and also fix festive treats every year.

~FIVE~

Finally, I'm pretty excited about two new items I purchased this year. The pumpkin spice apple juice for the kids actually sounds delish and I can't wait to try it!

I was also very surprised to see the book below at Target this year. We thoroughly enjoy holiday books and collect new ones every year.

So there ya go! That's my five on friday - Halloween edition! I sure hope you all have a very Happy Halloween! Be safe and have a great weekend!

Sequin Leggings - Two Ways + Anniversary

Last week I mentioned that I bought a pair of shiny sequin leggings from Hazel and Olive (my favorite online boutique). So I decided to style them 2 ways to see which way I liked the best.

First I dressed them up with a black tunic, black pumps, a gold tassel necklace, and big fancy earrings.

I turned to the side hoping to show off my pumps, but that didn't work out so well! ha!

My second look was a casual one with a basic white tank, denim jacket, flats, and two of my favorite necklaces.

This was by far my favorite look and surprisingly comfy!!

I highly recommend purchasing a pair of these leggings! They are fully lined and just so comfy!

I also have to give a shout out to my main squeeze! Today is our 9 year wedding anniversary!!

Have a great day!

Fun weekend + Party Sneak Peek

We had such a fun weekend! The weather was gorgeous, my hubs was off from work, and we had lots of fun things to do.

Friday night we had our bi-weekly date night. I suggested to the hubs that we get all dolled up. He's always stating that he never gets to wear ties anymore (he wears scrubs to work) and I always love dressing up. Plus our anniversary is Wed so it was sort of a little celebratory dinner!

Then on Saturday morning we had some family pictures taken for our Christmas card. I was blown away with how many good shots we got, but I can't really post them yet. Don't wanna ruin the surprise! So here's a quick shot I snapped with my phone before we started.

After the pics, we quickly changed clothes and headed to a birthday party. I was so excited to wear my new fringe scarf from Hazel and Olive. I was actually pretty pumped about my entire outfit!

The party was a Disney theme, so I arrived with Belle and Tigger.

And they were quite tired when it was all over!

Quick picture at church Sunday morning!

OOh, and I spent a good part of the wknd working on party preps for my daughter's upcoming 7th birthday - a mermaid bash!

How was your weekend? Did you do anything fun??

It's Friday Y'all!

Happy Friday!!! I can't believe another week has passed and we are a week away from Halloween!!! Today I'm linking up with Darci (and others) again but also Leslie and her Confessional Friday.

  ~ONE~

I confess that I thoroughly enjoyed a few hours of alone time with my hubs on Tuesday morning. We were able to sneak away for a short hike. My daughter was in school and we dropped my son off at my mom's. It was a perfect, fall day. It was so nice to be able to enjoy some alone time in the peaceful outdoors.

~TWO~

And speaking of alone time, I confess that I am giddy over this new series the hubs and I just started watching together (Once Upon a Time). I know we are a little late to the party, but we bought the first two seasons a few years ago and just never go around to watching it. I'm sure it'll take us awhile to get caught up to the current season, but we're definitely enjoying every episode. It's seriously so good! Have any of you watched the show before?

~THREE~

I confess that I ate Oreos for dinner one night last week. #sorrynotsorry
I worked my usual 10 hour day, standing on my feet the entire time, and it was crazy busy. I came home just in time to put the kids to bed (hubs was working late) and was too tired to fix anything. And boy, were they good!!

~FOUR~

I confess that I'm super excited about the upcoming weekend. We have lots of fun things to attend and the hubs is off to join in the fun. I also hope to sneak in some family pics to be used in our Christmas card this year.

~FIVE~

I confess that I am over the moon excited about these gold sequin leggings I just purchased. I had been on the hunt for a pair for over a year. Then a few days ago one of my favorite boutiques, Hazel and Olive, had them on IG for sale. I was very quick to purchase them and I'm so glad I did b/c they are sold out now. Stay tuned for another post featuring my coveted shiny pants!

Have a great weekend!!

Forever Fur

Can I just say that Forever 21 is blowing it out of the park this season with their faux fur vests. I mean, seriously, I am dying over all of them. And not only are they super stylish, they are super affordable too!

Click here to see all of them!

I'd been wanting one for a few years now, so I snagged mine early from H&M.  It was also very inexpensive and so comfy!

And since I have a mini-me, I wanted to be sure to find her one too! I also bought hers very early on in the season, but am finding so many more cute ones!

And below is a pic of our matching ones. I can't wait to have some pictures taken in them!!

Weekend Recap and a Recipe

Hey there! I hope you had a wonderful weekend! I know we sure did!

My first supper club was a complete success! I loved having a taco bar, frozen margaritas, Coronas, and salsa, along with Halloween decor and desserts!

We had 6 girls total for the night and it was so much fun! I'm already looking forward to next month!

Then on Saturday morning we woke up and got ready for my daughter's race. I was so incredibly proud of her. 3.1 miles is a long distance for a 6 year old but she did it! I was thankful to share the experience with her.

We didn't make it to the pumpkin patch today - bummer! But I decided to dress the kids in their festive shirts for church this morning.

And lastly, I discovered a tasty new recipe from the Six Sisters Blog. I seriously love all of their recipes. I changed a few things to make it my own. And it was so, so good. We even ate on it for few days (which is rare for my hubs b/c he doesn't usually care for leftovers).  I promise you won't regret making it!

(Recipe from Eat Cake For Dinner)
1 can black beans, drained & rinsed
1 can corn, undrained
1 can Rotel (tomatoes & gr. chiles), undrained
1 pkg. ranch dressing mix 1 tsp. cumin
1 Tbl. chili powder
1 (8 oz.) pkg. cream cheese
1 rotisserie chicken (peeled and shredded)

Combine chicken, beans, corn, Rotel, ranch seasoning, cumin, chili powder and place in crockpot. Place stick of cream cheese on top. Cover and cook on low for 1-2 hours. Stir cream cheese into chili. Stir together and serve. Since the chicken is already cooked, it doesn't take long to fix. You're really just melting the cream cheese and allowing all of the ingredients to blend together. (The original recipe calls for chicken breasts - we just prefer to cook with the rotisserie chicken in my house.)

Yield: 3-4 adult servings.

Happy Monday!

It's Friday Y'all!

Happy Friday!! I'm personally really excited about this upcoming weekend, lots of fun things planned! Today I'm joining in my first "5 on friday" link up! Wish me luck - here goes!

~ONE~

I have been dying over this new bag I picked up at the Gap Outlet last weekend. I sooo wish they sold it in the stores (or online) b/c I'm telling you it is amazing! It's just so roomy and big. I love it b/c I can use it as a purse/diaper bag/carry all. And the print - love some leopard! I tried looking online for a comparison, but had no luck. :(

~TWO~

Some friends and I decided to start a monthly supper club. We'll all take turns hosting and enjoy a girls' night in. I'm super excited to be kicking off the event tonite! I'm serving Mexican food with a Halloween twist. I'd like to call it a "Mexiween"! :)

~THREE~

My daughter has been training after school for her first 5K. While I do think a 5K is a bit ambitious for a 6 year old, I'm also excited for her. It's a community race that the local schools participate in, so we'll be running as a team with her elementary school. I am planning to run/walk with her. And honestly, I'm just praying we finish!! On a lighter note, I am giddy over her new race gear!

~FOUR~

We're also hoping to go back to one of our local pumpkin patches this weekend. It's an annual tradition for our family and we look forward to it every year. I took the kids by myself a few weeks ago b/c our church group was going. While it was fun, it just wasn't the same w/o my hubs. I sure hope we can squeeze in a quick trip tomorrow or Sunday.

~FIVE~

Last, but not least, I'm still reminiscing over our little getaway last weekend. The hubs and I went down to Charleston for an early anniversary trip. It was just so fun to share some alone time. We shopped, walked on the beach, enjoyed rooftop drinks, ate delicious meals, and just had a wonderful time. I'm already looking forward to our next trip back!

Have a wonderful weekend!!

Welcome!

Hey there! After years of blogging (since 2009) privately for my family, I have decided to start another blog. I think the main reason is just to feel connected. While I do consider myself a "blogger", it's almost a secret identity b/c I only share it with my family. So after much thought and consideration, I've decided to start a new blog for the world to see. My title (playdates and prescriptions) just gives a brief description of two of the hats I wear on a regular basis. First I'm a momma to two littles (Cate who is 6 and William who is 2), but I'm also a Pharmacist (currently only working 1 day a week). And while I certainly love being a mom, my hubs sweetly reminded me that I shouldn't forget how hard I worked to earn my Doctorate of Pharmacy degree.

All that being said, feel free to ask me anything else you may want to know. I still have a lot to learn with all of the "proper" and "technical" ways to blog, but I hope you'll be patient with me and continue reading. I also hope to meet some new wonderful friends along the way!
