Happy Monday!! I hope you all had a wonderful and safe holiday weekend!
We started ours on Friday morning by fixing treats to take to my family cookout. We love making "pretzel treats" and fix them for almost every event/holiday. The kids helped me by picking out the blue and red M&M's.
By Friday afternoon we hit the road for my hometown. We arrived pretty late and just let the kids play until bed. Then i slipped over to a friend's house for a little "girls' night". We've been friends for over 20 years and we really enjoy spending time together!
Saturday morning we were up and ready to get decked out in festive attire! :)
I had to sneak in the above picture very quickly before the kids were begging to play with all of my dad's "toys". My son spent most of his time on my dad's MULE.
And my daughter spent most of her time in the pool.
Before we knew it, it was time to shower up and get ready for the family cookout/firework display. But not before more pictures, obviously! :)
My brother and niece slipped over to join the fun and photo taking too!
The party was at my aunt's house and fortunately the weather held off. I went ahead and let the kids do the sparklers before it got dark, b/c i wasn't sure how late we'd be staying (b/c of them being tired, etc). We lucked out and were able to see the huge firework display (that the city park puts off every year) from the back yard and both kids loved them!
We ended up driving back home Saturday night (late) to avoid the awful traffic on Sunday.
Sunday we all slept in (after getting to bed close to 1am) and got things ready for the week. My daughter and I also went to church for a few hours to prepare for Vacation Bible School. I doubt I'll be blogging much this week b/c VBS pretty much consumes me. I help lead the preschool music group (of about sixty 3, 4, and 5 year olds) and it leaves me exhausted. It's basically 3 hours of aerobics every day. I love it but I have a feeling I'll be even more drained this year being pregnant!
I hope you have a great week and I'll try to see you back on Friday!
